Governance
Medical Advisory Committee
Peninsula Heart Clinic has a Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) to ensure we achieve and maintain medical excellence across all our services. All medical practitioners that operate with us must complete a strict application process to apply for practising privileges and be part of our MAC.
These practising privileges must be renewed annually in keeping with guidelines set out by the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework.
The MAC offers guidance and advice on all areas of clinical practice and meets at quarterly intervals through the course of the year. The MAC has a robust clinical governance strategy with appointed leads for clinical governance and clinical audit. The MAC also reports into the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) Clinical Governance committees. This ensures robust controls are always in place for the quality and effectiveness of care we deliver.
Our Clinical Director
Dr Sivasankar Sangaraju was appointed Clinical Director at the Peninsula Heart Clinic in 2024. Peninsula Heart Clinic (PHC) is an operating company of Regent’s Park and is in a working partnership with the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. PHC has been operating since 2019. This clinical oversight with joined audit, governance and reporting structures ensures that national minimal clinical standards are always being met and patient safety is prioritised and maintained across all our services. Our consultant cardiologists based at Derriford Hospital have practising privileges with Peninsula Heart Clinic.

Quality of Healthcare
We are extremely proud of the quality of healthcare we provide and our outcome data. As part of our ongoing commitment to quality standards in healthcare, we contribute to various databases including: The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN), National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) and National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR).
We also support external audits and quality benchmarking from the following societies: British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS), Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and British Cardiovascular Society (BCS).
We are committed to delivering excellence in patient care, and benchmark ourselves against the quality framework used by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in their key lines of enquiry. The CQC assesses organisations across five areas to judge whether they are: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led.

We are a team of top-tier healthcare managers, doctors, scientists and allied health professionals who are committed to transforming care, expanding access, improving quality and reducing costs.
We take huge pride in our twenty-year track record of delivering cardiac care, through excellent service, efficient operations management, well trained staff, and uncompromising professionalism.
